Texas Holdem Tips On Playing From The Blinds #1
Generally you want to play the best cards possible from the blinds. Playing very tight and sticking to only absolutely premium cards is a great strategy.
You'll find you aren't playing that many hands and are in fact losing the posted blind but this is often much better than losing a lot of chips from the blinds.

Next thing is to realize you do in fact have a negative expectation from the blinds. That is, you expect to lose money from the blind positions.
You will make this up from the other position, especially late positions. So again, don't worry about losing your posted blind. It's far better to lose less than lose a lot.
When you lose less from your negative expectations and make more from your positive expectations this all adds up to better overall outcomes.

The third thing is vitally important. I've found it quite profitable to also play small or medium pocket pairs from the blind. These are about the only cards I'll play other than A-K-Q cards when I'm playing a solid tight game.
The only way these pocket pairs are profitable is if you hit the third card on the flop, to make a set. When you hit a set in a situation like this you often have the 'surprise' factor and as long as nothing crazy is happening on the board (think straights or flushes or board pairs) you can often win a really nice pot.
